The new funding will support several improvements, including: Repairing an eroding area that is undermining the trail over Eureka Peak at the north end of the project; Decommissioning a social trail and repairing erosion within Mission Blue Butterfly habitat; and Providing 24 months of hand-watering and maintenance for new native plantings to support successful establishment. The additional grant also allows existing project funds to go further toward site furnishings, graffiti abatement, and other improvements. The project will increase the number of freestanding benches from six to nine and add seven wall-mounted benches with backs to concrete seat walls already included in the design. We are also making minor refinements to the seat walls that can function as skateable elements. None of these additions or refinements change the overall project concept or design intent. They are targeted improvements that allow us to strengthen habitat restoration, improve site stewardship, and provide additional visitor amenities while moving the project forward.
